Mark Stacey, CFA, Senior Vice-President, Head of Portfolio Management and Co-Chief Investment Officer
Mark Stacey
Mark leads the firm's investment management functions. Since joining the firm in 2011, Mark is also responsible for the portfolio management of Highstreet’s Canadian core, and Canadian small cap equity mandates. Mark has 14 years of investment experience applying quantitative and fundamental management techniques to the portfolio management process. Prior to joining Highstreet, Mark was an equity portfolio manager for a large financial institution.
Grant Wang, CFA, Ph.D, Senior Vice-President, Head of Research and Co-Chief Investment Officer
Grant Wang
Grant leads the research team to develop and enhance Highstreet’s quantitative investment strategies. He plays a key role in facilitating the sharing of ideas between Highstreet’s portfolio managers and quantitative specialists with respect to research proposals and findings. Prior to joining Highstreet in 2012, Grant spent 7 years as a lead quantitative researcher for one of Canada’s largest pension funds. Grant has 15 years of experience developing predictive statistical models.
Robert Yan, Ph.D, CFA, Vice-President, Portfolio Manager
Robert Yan
Robert joined Highstreet in 2008 and is responsible for the portfolio management of Highstreet’s non-Canadian equity portfolios. Prior to his current position, Robert was an integral member of Highstreet’s research and portfolio management team and was instrumental in the development, enhancement and day to day management of Highstreet’s quantitative portfolio strategies, including the non-Canadian equity portfolios. Prior to joining Highstreet, Robert worked in the banking industry for 3 years. Robert is a CFA charter holder and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Western University.
Jeff Kay, M.Sc., Vice-President, Portfolio Manager
Jeff Kay
Jeff is the portfolio manager for Highstreet’s option overlay strategies and is also responsible for the ongoing development and execution of the firm’s risk management processes. Prior to this, Jeff was an associate portfolio manager, assisting with the day-to-day management of the option overlay strategies and was primarily responsible for quantitative research and strategy development within Highstreet’s structured products team. Prior to joining Highstreet in 2011, Jeff worked in risk management and quantitative analysis for a large Canadian financial institution. Jeff has 14 years of investment experience.
Stephen Duench, CFA, Vice President, Portfolio Manager
Stephen Duench

Stephen is the portfolio manager for Highstreet’s North American equity income products and has been an integral member of the Canadian equity portfolio management team at Highstreet since 2007. Stephen contributes to both quantitative and fundamental research initiatives. He is also central in the creation and support of Highstreet’s proprietary portfolio management tools, analysis, and applications across both Canadian and Global mandates. Stephen has a keen interest in research surrounding Factor characteristics and their subsequent performance. Stephen has an Honours degree in Financial Mathematics and is a CFA charterholder.

Cally Cheung, MBA, CFA, Senior Analyst, Research
Cally Cheung

As an integral member of the investment research team, Cally contributes to the refinement and advancement of Highstreet's quantitative portfolio strategies, including maintaining the model for EAFE and Dividend portfolios, conducting fundamental research of stocks, and building tools for better portfolio analysis. Prior to joining Highstreet in 2011, Cally spent 2 years as a risk analyst at a large financial institution focusing on credit products, and interned at a large pension fund on the fixed income team. Cally joined Highstreet in 2011 and has nine years of financial industry experience.

Tingting Lu, Ph.D, CFA, Associate Portfolio Manager
Tingting Lu
Tingting joined Highstreet’s research team in 2014. With extensive background of validating return and risk models, she contributes to the development and enhancement of Highstreet’s quantitative investment strategies. Prior to joining Highstreet, Tingting worked in model risk management for a large Canadian financial institution. She has 8 years of financial industry experience and 7 years of quantitative research experience in Astrophysics.
Zheng Liu, Ph.D Fin., MBA, CFA, Senior Analyst, Research
Zheng Liu
Zheng joined Highstreet's research team in 2013 and contributes to the development and enhancement of Highstreet's quantitative portfolio strategies. He specializes in statistical factor models and programming to process and analyze financial data for Highstreet's quantitative modeling. Prior to joining Highstreet, Zheng was a research fellow in corporate finance and taught advanced corporate finance courses at a prominent Canadian university. Zheng has 8 years of financial research experience.
Brian Jia, Ph.D, Senior Analyst, Research
Brian Jia
Brian joined Highstreet's research team in 2013. He specializes in the development, application, and data analysis of our investment strategies. He also contributes to research on long-only equity strategies, and option modelling combined with the execution process. Brian has 8 years of research experience in financial econometrics. Prior to joining Highstreet, he was a senior software engineer in leading IT companies and has worked as a quantitative financial analyst for large Canadian financial institutions, including one of the country's largest pension plans.
Lei Wan, MQF, CFA, Senior Analyst, Research
Lei Wan
Lei is responsible for contributing to the development and enhancement of Highstreet’s quantitative investment strategies. Prior to joining Highstreet in 2015, Lei worked for an international leading provider of factor indices and multifactor risk models based in Toronto. Lei earned a Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance in 2010 from University of Alberta, a Master of Quantitative Finance in 2012 from University of Waterloo, and has over 3 years of financial industry experience along with 5 years of quantitative finance research experience.
Hang Gao, MQF, Senior Analyst, Research

Hang is a Senior Analyst, Research, with Highstreet Asset Management. After nearly one year with WealthSimple focusing on passive investing and robo-advisory, Hang is eager to leverage his background in technology to focus on active management strategies. His expertise brings remarkable insight for our ETF business and other research initiatives. Hang passed the level two Financial Risk Management exam and is currently working towards the CFA designation. He has a Master of Quantitative Finance and Bachelor from University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China.
Brad Xing, MQF, CAIA, Senior Analyst, Research

Brad joined Highstreet’s research team in 2018 and contributes to the development and enhancement of Highstreet’s quantitative investment models. He specializes in factor investment and data analysis, as well as applying machine learning techniques to streamline model development and discover signals from alternative data. Prior to joining Highstreet, Brad started his career as a financial engineer analyst for commodity derivatives, working in a bottom-up quantitative-driven equity investment division of a large financial institution. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Master of Quantitative Finance and also earned a Bachelor of Finance in 2013 from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China.
David Ghasimi, CFA, Research Analyst, Research

David joined Highstreet’s research team in 2018, leveraging his proficiency in quantitative analytics to contribute to the development or enhancement of investment strategies. He has been a key contributor to Highstreet initiatives related to FX hedging and asset allocation as well as the development of the Highstreet quant library. David has been in the financial services industry since 2008, gaining invaluable experience and perspective. Prior to joining Highstreet, David was at a leading brokerage firm where he worked as a global markets analyst and also contributed to equity research reports. He has a Master of Finance from McMaster University and is a CFA®; charterholder.
Abhishek Ashok, MA, MFE, CFA, Analyst
Abhishek Ashok
Since joining Highstreet in 2015, Abhishek has progressively taken on more responsibility and expanded his role on the investment team. He is involved in developing and interpreting quantitative tools to enhance the investment management process, developing content for presentations and commentary, providing data management and process support across the firm’s mandates, as well as being involved in several of the firm’s investment and research initiatives. Abhishek is a CFA Charterholder, and has earned a Master of Financial Economics from Western University, MA in Economics from York University, and a B.Sc in Economics and Management from Purdue University.
Ian Rake, Portfolio Specialist

Ian is responsible for creating accurate reporting and timely communications for the firm’s clients, including pension plans, corporate investors, foundations and high-net-worth families. He produces detailed portfolio analysis and commentary, generates content for client review meetings and Highstreet’s client newsletter, and contributes to investment and research initiatives. Prior to joining Highstreet in 2018, Ian served as a Portfolio Analyst at a well-known brokerage in London, Ontario and also worked in financial services at one of the large Canadian banks. Ian earned a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, with a specialization in Finance from the University of Western Ontario and is a 2019 CFA Level III Candidate.
Stewart Boxall, Manager, Technology Development and Analyst
Stewart Boxall
Stewart leads the development and support of Highstreet's custom investment management software and is responsible for the oversight of all Highstreet proprietary applications. Working closely with the investment team, he also provides data management and process support for the portfolio managers. Stewart joined Highstreet in 2010 and brings over 22 years of technology and software development experience to the firm.
Michael Hodgson, Hons BA, MBA, TEP, Managing Director, Private Client
Michael Hodgson
Mike is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the Private Client and Foundation business at Highstreet. He is an experienced financial services professional with a bias towards private client wealth management. He has spent more than 30 years in the financial services industry including 23 years with a large Canadian bank working in Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the British Isles. He brings a broad range of disciplines, including general management, post-acquisition integration, client relationship management, business development and corporate governance.
Bruce Sayers, CIM, Director, Private Client
Bruce Sayers
Bruce is responsible for helping clients reach their financial goals with the benefit of investment knowledge, client understanding and historical perspective. Bruce joined Highstreet in 2001 and has cultivated many long term client relationships by providing his professional services to our high net worth individuals and families. Prior to joining Highstreet, Bruce worked in the investment division of a large Canadian financial institution.
Mike Hammond, CIM, B.Sc, Director, Private Client
Mike Hammond
Mike is focused on providing relationship management to existing and new high-net worth private clients by performing investment portfolio reviews and providing recommendations on investments in the Highstreet Pooled Funds, where appropriate. Prior to joining Highstreet in 2015, Mike held a similar role with a private wealth management group based in Toronto. With over 8 years of experience working with high net-worth individuals, and institutions, Mike brings with him a global experience to our local market.
Larry Hazel, CFA, Director, Private Client
Larry Hazel
Larry fosters his high net worth client relationships by leveraging his investment knowledge and experience with a focus on customer service.  Larry specializes in the creation of asset allocation recommendations specific to an individual’s risk tolerance and investment objective.  He monitors and reviews portfolio performance with his clients on a continual basis.  Prior to joining Highstreet, Larry spent 10 years in Nova Scotia with two national securities dealers; first as a Senior Associate, managing a book of high net worth clients, and more recently as a Securities Planning Specialist where he managed over 70 financial advisers across Nova Scotia.

Carol Hepp
Carol covers our reception desk on a part-time basis, as well as providing administrative support to our Private Client team. Carol joined our firm in 2010 and has over 30 years of experience in the industry.
Cindy Coffey, Receptionist & Marketing Coordinator

Cindy joined Highstreet in 2018 as Receptionist and Marketing Coordinator. She offers administrative support to our Private Client Team and is responsible for coordinating private client events and corporate sponsorship details. Cindy brings 15 years of financial administration experience to the team.
Kristina Delich-Mildred, Financial Accountant
Kristina Delich-Mildred
Kristina is accountable for the timely and efficient processing of the management company's daily financial activities. She also provides support to Highstreet's financial and administrative processes. Kristina joined Highstreet in 2006 and has over 16 years of accounting experience.
