Protection of our clients’ privacy is fundamental to Highstreet Asset Management Inc.’s (“Highstreet”) business practices. In order to protect your privacy, we have adopted the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information.

Purpose
Highstreet will gather personal and financial information about you:
  • To help carry out our duties as your investment counselor; and
  • To establish your identity, to enable us to contact you and to comply with the law.
Consent
By opening an account with Highstreet, you provide consent for us to collect and store personal information about you and to communicate with you by way of email, telephone or post. In order for Highstreet to share any information regarding your account or for you to access your account information electronically, we will ask you for express consent. You are the sole provider of any information we receive about you. We provide you with copies of all signed documents for your files.

You may withdraw any express consent provided to Highstreet at any time by contacting your relationship manager. For any account, we may confirm information we receive from you through third-party service providers in order to fulfill our obligations with regard to Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime legislation.
 
Limited Collection
We will only collect information that solely supports our responsibility to provide our clients with sound investment advice or as required under legislation.
 
Limited Use
Information provided to Highstreet is used only to provide services to you. It remains within the confines of Highstreet and any affiliated or third-party service provider that we use as record keeper of your account. Except where required by law or where you have provided your express consent, Highstreet will not disclose any information about you, and our employees renew this promise quarterly. We require affiliated service providers and third-party service providers who deal with your account to have the same commitment to privacy.

Accuracy
We have an ongoing commitment to make sure that the information in your file is accurate so that we may:
  • Keep you informed;
  • Ensure proper regulatory reporting; and
  • Make sure that your investments continue to meet your needs.

You receive timely confirmation of any transactions in your account and quarterly performance reviews. Contact us with any concerns you may have about the information we report to you or that we have in your file.

Safeguards
Highstreet maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. We use reliable technology to keep our electronic records safe from unauthorized access. When providing confidential information to you electronically, we will take appropriate measures to protect it. Access to web-based information is password protected and has appropriate firewalls. Personal information accessed through a web site is encrypted.

Access to Information
You may access your personal information in our files at any time.

You may ask us to explain our methods of storing, retrieving and using personal information at any time.

Complaints
Highstreet is committed to treating you with respect and consideration in all dealings. From time to time, however, a misunderstanding or error may occur regarding matters of privacy. In such circumstances, Highstreet will act diligently to resolve the problem and will contact you as soon as possible within 30 days of our receipt of your complaint.
